  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1⁄3 cups 2% milk
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2/3 cup 2% milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preparation

1. To make churros, place milk in the bowl fitted with the kneading/crushing blade. Launch at speed 6 at 210°F for 4 minutes. In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture and egg white to the bowl. Mix at speed 4 for 30 seconds.

2. Place dough on a lightly floured surface and form rolls 5 inches long and about 1 inch thick. Heat 3 cups of vegetable oil in a 2-quart saucepan to 230°F.

3. Cook rolls in oil for 2 minutes or until golden brown. Place on a plate lined with paper towels. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Roll hot churros in cinnamon sugar mixture.

4. For chocolate sauce, place chocolate chips, milk and vanilla in the bowl fitted with the kneading/crushing blade. Launch the sauce program at speed 5 at 180°F for 8 minutes. Serve with churros.
