Chicken and Chorizo Paella

Chicken and Chorizo Paella | Tefal Recipe

Golden rice infused with saffron, smoky paprika, tender chicken and spicy chorizo. Finished with peas, parsley and a bright squeeze of lemon.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped finely
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 chicken breast, cubed
  • 1 chorizo, cubed
  • 1 medium red capsicum, cubed
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ tsp saffron threads
  • 1 tbsp smokey paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 3 cups white rice, washed and drained
  • Chicken stock
  • 150g frozen green peas
  • Parsley, chopped to garnish
  • Lemon wedges, to garnish

Method

  1. Add the olive oil, garlic, onion, chicken, chorizo and capsicum to the bowl of your Tefal Rice Master & Slow Cooker RK818. Close the lid and select “Soup”, then press “Start” button to start cooking. The rice cooker will take about 5-6 minutes to heat up the bowl and start lightly browning the ingredients. Once the ingredients are slightly browned, press “Cancel” to stop the cooking.
  2. Open the lid and add the tomato paste, saffron threads, paprika, salt and pepper and give it a good stir to combine all ingredients. Add the white rice and the chicken stock up until the 3 cup white rice indicator line. Select “White Rice” button and press “Start” button to start the cooking. It will enter keep warm automatically after cooking.
  3. Once rice has finished cooking stir in the frozen peas, give the paella a gentle mix and close the lid again, letting the peas cook in the residual steam/heat.
  4. After 5-8 minutes, open the lid, serve paella into bowls and garnish with parsley and a lemon wedge.
