Prepare the ingredients.
Beat the butter and sugar together, until light. Gradually beat in the eggs. Fold in the flour, orange zest and juice.
Spoon the syrup into the basins. Top with the sponge mixture. Cover with foil and secure with string.
Measure 300ml of water into the bowl. Place the basins into the steaming basket and lower into the bowl.
